Demos are ingame-records, like a video, but they are smaller and they dont lag your game. With Demos you can record abuses, some fun with your friends and your gameplay.
How-To Record/Play a Demo?
It's easy! If you have enabled your console, just type "record demoname" in it and it records a demo for you. To stop recording, just type "stop".
To play it, type "playdemo demoname" in the console. Demos have to been placed in the Steam/steamapps/<your account>/<game-name>/<game-mod>/ folder.
For example: C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/user/half-life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp/
If you dont have activated your console, you have to go in steam, then click on "My games" and then do a right-click on the game you want. Then select "Properties", click on "Set launch options..." and then write in it "-console". Then close the window by clicking on OK and close the Properties-Window.
After that start your game and have fun :P
